Poison Dream- Not Finished

Poison Dream

One warm summers day two girls named Eliza and Ellie walked to the Fish ‘n’ Chip shop to get dinner. They walked into the shop and ordered 1 fish and a scoop of chips. As they walked home they started to eat their dinner and a stranger walked past and put two drops of purple poison onto each end of the fish. Of course the girls did not notice as they were looking at the face of the strange man coming closer and closer to them.
They went home and split the fish in half and there was no chips left because they had already eaten them on the way home. It was time for bed.
That night they slept in the same room, both thinking about the same stranger. Finally they went to sleep.

In the night something very strange happened. They both woke up and there parents were taking them to the orphanage.
They finally got to the orphanage after three hours of sitting in the back seat of the car in silence, both not knowing where they were going. The orphanage was a ratty old building and the kids inside looked like they had been working all day, and having no fun at all. There parents said to them “Here you go the lady inside will look after you until somebody takes care of you.” The lady inside looked very mean with dark brown eyes Her name was Granger, She did not like to be called by her first name, she was only to be called Mrs Granger.
They both looked at each other then looked on to the lady. They got inside the orphanage and all of the children looked up from working like slaves. The lady quickly snapped “Get back to work girls”. The children quickly went back to work. Mrs. Granger showed the girls their bed. Then she called all of the girls at the orphanage to come and meet Eliza and Ellie. She said to everybody ”This is Eliza and Ellie they are new to the orphanage” she pointed at Maddie a girl at the orphanage and said to her firmly ”It is your responsibility to keep Eliza and Ellie on track, If they go off you will all have extra dutys and no dinner for a week” Maddie replied “Yes Mrs. Granger”. Mrs. Granger said “if I do not” and Maddie steped in and said “If I do not keep Eliza and Ellie on track we will have extra dutys to do and a week without no dinner”. “Back to work”,yelled Mrs. Granger and all of the girls except Maddie, Eliza & Ellie went off to work. Maddie quickly whispered to Eliza & Ellie, “no talking while working, lights out at 8. If anybody gets out of line they will go without breakfast for 1 week and make breakfast, lunch and dinner for all of the other kids , will have to wake up at 4am instead of 6am to fit in their extra duties and will have to run 4km every morning for a whole week. So I am warning you to stay on track or we will have a big consequence” Maddie gave the girls their clothes to wear. They both looked at them and thought this is going to be one long, hard stay, if anybody ever thought to come into this orphanage in the middle of nowhere. They walked of to their bed to get dressed and Mrs. Granger snapped” where are you going?” the girls replied, “To get changed into our clothes”, she said back to them “No, come back here you must ask before going anywhere so for a consequence you must get changed in front of all of the girls here. Right now”, the girls turned red but they did as they were told and got changed in front of all of the other girls. Luckily the orphanage was only girls. Eliza & Ellie started to work. They mopped the floors and cleaned the windows. It took 4 hours to do one story of the big building. After the first floor the girls thought that they had finished but Mrs. Granger said as soon as they had finished the first story, “next floor girls”. They both thought to themselves but there is only one floor in the orphanage. After all of the floors and windows were done the girls were rushed out quickly so that she could get paid without the owners knowing. When Mrs. Granger got back the girls had dinner. Eliza & Ellie didn't like there dinner at all but they didn't say a word because they were very shy. Then the girls did all of the dishes and went to bed there was no talking and lights out straight away. Ellie and Eliza mingled as soon as Mrs. Granger left and she ran back in and yelled "who was talking?", noebody answered her

Plan:
They get sent 2 a orphanage with a mean lady who runs it. They cleaned all of the floors in the building and they get paid the owners don’t know the the girls were cleaning it she calls the police for slavory she gets fired a new lady comes in and in kind a old lady adopts them she dies they keep the house and live happily ever after.

Rainbow Poem

Red as emotions rushing through your heart
Red as the color that makes you hungry for food

Orange as the fruit that you cut into slices
Orange as the feeling of exclusion

Yellow as a Tennis ball flying through the air
Yellow as a new idea popping into your head

Green is the color that fills the fields
Green is the color of trust

Blue as the color that you look up to in the sky
Blue is the color that makes you feel cold and alone

Purple is the color that calms you when you are angry
Purple is the color of friendships that will never end

Pink as the color that fills your heart with love
Pink as the feeling that nobody cares

Grey is the color that you never want to see
Grey is the color of the smoke rising from chimneys

Black is the color that spooks you
Black is the color that you look up to at night

Rainbow as the mix of colors in the sky after the raindrops have visited

Persuasive Writing Self Evaluation

Surface Features- Great
Because there is no spelling or punctuation mistakes

Deeper Features- Good
Because my ideas are great and my sentances make sense. There is a couple of ideas in a parahgraph

Title & Intro- Good
The title describes the purpose of the writing.
The introduction has a hook that captures the audiences attention and makes them want to carry on reading

Organisation of the writing- Good
The hook captures the audiences attention so the reader reads on. The arguments are strong but could be stronger. The summary is good and it wraps the writing up.

Strength of Argument- Good
I am only writing about the topic. Most of the facts are true

Publication- Great
Because I have photos and a title that stands out from the writing

Why the England Referee was unfair

By Elise
Team 14, Fendalton School
October 2007

When the All Blacks lost to France in the Rugby World Cup quarterfinal the New Zealand supporters were watching in shock as the French celebrated. The players, supporters and coaches were all gutted and disappointed with our loss. No other country would have been as disappointed as we were. This is the earliest the All Blacks have ever been out of the Rugby World Cup.

I think the England referee was unfair because he was on the side of the French team so that the English team would get to play an easier team in the semi-final.
In the first half Luke Macalister got sent off for 10 minutes for what looked like a high tackle but wasn't. The referee was definitely on the French side because a fair referee wouldn't pull up one side for nothing.

During the second half the referee didn't see a forward pass from the French that scored a try, which was also converted. If the referee had seen this forward pass, then the All Blacks would have won and had a chance of getting through to the finals.

Everybody is blaming the loss all on the All blacks and the coaches but it was partly the All blacks bad team work but most of it was unfair refereeing. The final score was 18-20 to France. The All Blacks now have to wait another 4 years to have another try at getting the title of the Rugby World Cup. All we can do now is hope that the refereeing is fair unlike this year’s quarterfinal.

Abseiling letter

Dear Blue Skies Abseiling & Rock Climbing Team,

Thankyou very much for instructing us on the rock climbing wall and the abseiling tower.
It was lots of fun trying things that we don't usually do. I can't wait to go abseiling again. When we went on the 8m tower for the fist time I was really freaked but going down on the secound and third time it wasn't as scary. Going down the16m tower was very scary on your first time. Going down backwards was even more scary.

We hope that you have a great time going Abseiling down the 100m cliff face.We all had a great experience and wish you luck for future abseiling.

I am sure that anyone else that has been abseiling or rock climbing with you had a great time. We hope you enjoyed the BBQ dinner we provided you.

Thanks Again

A very fine story about a cat.

Millie – Our Cool School Cat

Millie is a cat. Not an ordinary cat. The only ordinary thing about Millie is that she lives with a family. The Brownie Family. The Brownie family live next door to Fendalton School. Every morning when the Brownie children head off to school Millie wants to be like everyone else and go to school too.
So she packs her school bag. She opens up her blankie and puts in her kittly-scrumbly-chunks and a little bottle of milk and wraps them up and heads off to school. She joins in classes and is a great listener.

Millie spends a lot of time in the principal’s office. Not because she is naughty, but because she absolutely loves our Principal, Cheryl Doig. Millie loves to snuggle into Cheryl even at Cheryl’s grumpiest of times. Millie also bats her paw on Cheryl’s dangly earrings. This always cheers Cheryl up.

Millie likes school so much that sometimes she goes in the evening just before it is all locked up. One evening she went into Cheryl’s office but Cheryl wasn’t there so Millie decided to wait for her. She curled up on Cheryl’s chair and went to sleep. When she woke up it was very dark and quiet so she jumped up onto the desk to look out the window. This set the alarm off. The next minute she saw the police. She was not at all frightened as she was no ordinary cat. The police had a good look around and soon found Millie. The policeman yelled out ‘I’ve found the burglar over here. It’s a cat burglar!!’ He took Millie outside so she could go home. ‘Off you go, you dizzy cat.’

But Millie is not just a cat burglar, she is also a hero. One Monday morning Millie saw smoke coming out of the school village building. Within a minute Millie was well aware of the danger. She knew she needed to let everyone know. She started to meow loudly and brush herself against the legs of Mr McKinnel the caretaker. “What are you up to you dizzy cat?’ asked Mr McKinnell. ‘Do you want me to follow you?’ Millie meowed even louder and Mr McKinnell followed her to where he could smell smoke. Then the alarms went off. Mr McKinnell called the fire brigade and all the children assembled outside on the courts. Thanks to Millie no-one was hurt!!

Millie is a stylish cat. One night, when the school PTA held a “What To Wear” fundraising evening, Millie could not resist going. She was already in her very fashionable clothes (her beautiful fur coat). She headed off to the evening. When the host asked for some models Millie was up there as quick as a flash strutting in front of the audience. She was great!! Everybody clapped except the Head of the PTA. She just shook her head and said, ‘that dizzy cat!’

Millie has a great relationship with Cheryl. But one day Cheryl decided it was time to go. Millie knew she would miss her. The PTA held a farewell party for Cheryl with lots of people coming to say goodbye, and of course, Millie came too. Lots of the people gave speeches and Millie gave some sad meows. At the end of the evening Millie’s Mum, Mrs Brownie, took Millie home but there was no going home for Millie. She wouldn’t give up. She just kept coming back again.

She is no dizzy cat. She’s a burglar, a hero, a model and a great friend. She is our cool, school cat.
This story is based on a true story.

To the editor,

I think that rabbits are the best pet.
I think this because they are easy to take care of because you don’t have to pick up it’s poo like a dog, and your garden won’t have holes in it. You also don’t have to walk it.

Another good thing about rabbits is that your neighbours will not get annoyed with you because rabbits don’t bark.
They also don’t cause any trouble in the neighbourhood it does not run free like most pets. Rabbits are defiantly the best pet because they don’t come inside your house so it won’t ruin your couches and carpet.

They are small pets so you can hold them. And if you have small children rabbits are suitable for them.
I think that rabbits are the best pet to have because if you are temporarily doing construction they only take a small amount of your garden and very easy to move.

Because all of those fantastic reasons I think that you should have a pet rabbit.
I hope this has persuaded you to have a pet rabbit.

Term 3 Active Listening Goal- Reflection

I think that I have achieved this goal because I am now listening better and respecting others. I am still sharing idea not interrupting. I am also asking less questions because I have been listening better.

Term 3 goal- Active Listening

This term I am going to work on active listening. I need to do this because I need to respect others more and listen more carefully.

To achieve this I could not talk when others are and put my hand up when I need to talk. I will also wait until the person has finished speaking before giving my ideas, because my question may be answered already. This means I will interrupt others less frequently.

I will know I have achieved this when I have better relationships with friends and teachers because I will be respecting them more. I will also need to ask less questions as by listening more, I may know the answers to things I might have asked.

Term 4 Goal- Handwriting

Keep my handwriting neat. I will know I have achieved this because I will be able to read my writing easily and might be close to a pen licence.

Term 4 Goal- Friendships

Try and get on better with Emma and Anna, I will know I have achieved this because we won't be fighting and we will get on better.

Try and make new friends, I will know I have achieved this because I will have new and more friends to play with.

Term 4 Goal- Times Tables and Division

Reflection 18/9/07

Today I learned that if a frog jumps in a pool of hot water they will jump straight out, and if they jump in to a cold pool of water that isn heating up slowly they will wait till they get rescued. This is what is happening to the planet earth.
Becausae of this learning I now understand what will happen to the earth if we keep causing Global Warming.
The next step in my learning is to stop creating global warming.

Speech Feedback Term 3 - Why Chicago is a Good City to Visit

2.50 Striking introduction, which grabbed the audience attention. You gave lots of eye contact and used cue cards. Varied voice. You talked about different aspects of Chicago in a logical order and gave interesting examples.

Next Steps:
Perhaps consider the sort of information that would be more interesting to your audience, in this case 9 and 10-year olds. I wonder if your content was more suited to adults visiting Chicago? Good speech, well done.

Hansel & Gretel Retell

In a graveyard
One dark and gloomy night Hansel and Gretel were getting annoyed with their dull parents making them do boring chores.

One day soon after they decided to take their parents out of their way. They took their parents out for a walk into the woods and they left them to get some wood to make the fire. Hansel and Gretel went the long way home. Hansel and Gretel’s parents knew their way back because they came this far into the woods every day to get firewood themselves. The parents walked back to their house with no problem.

The next day Hansel and Gretel came up with something harder for their parents to escape from. They took them into the woods, even further than last time. It was silent. You could hear everything, the birds singing, the wind blowing. They had travelled double the distance of last time. But the parents knew what their children were up to. Hansel and Gretel left their parents again and said they were going to get firewood, but didn’t come back.

Because it was so quiet when they went into the forest, the parents could hear and remember the birds singing. So they walked back to the east and the birds started singing. Not the singing they heard before, so they turned a little so they were walking north. They listened closely to the birds and they then knew that it was the right way. They walked for a while until they came to the end of the forest and they found their little cottage. In the window they saw Hansel and Gretel eating all their treats.

Hansel and Gretel waited for a week so it wouldn’t be so obvious what they were up to. At 9pm on Monday when all the hunters were out, Hansel and Gretel took their parents out. They had to be very careful not to get shot, so Hansel and Gretel wore black. Hansel and Gretel took their parents out even further than last time. There was so much noise they couldn’t remember anything. They were so tired they had a nap. They woke up in the middle of the night when the crazy hunters were still out. The hunters saw them move and quickly shot them.

In the morning Hansel and Gretel went out to look for their parents and found them lying on the ground dead. Hansel and Gretel they felt very bad and planned a funeral straight away. They called the local nanny network, hoping that they would be better than their parents were!

Wires to the max cap recount

Have you ever been walking through a forest where you can’t see much because all the trees and bushes were brushing against your face, and then suddenly, you trip over a rock and fall onto wires… SIZZLE POP BANG!!! You are lying on the ground alone . I have done this before but a little different.

On the 5TH-7TH of March Teams 14 and 9 were at Hanmer for school camp. One of the activities was Mission Impossible. My favourite part of Mission Impossible was the tricky electric fence. We had to get the bucket out of the fence (two ropes). You couldn’t go though or under the fence otherwise you had to do forfeits. We used the hollow pipe and pulled the rope through the pipe. Then with the other piece of rope we tied it to a hook. After that we made a pyrimad out of people and I stood on top. After trying and trying we finally hooked the hook to the bucket and fligned it over the fence.

We all had a fantastic time at Hanmer camp and couldn’t wait for our next challenging activitiy. I hope my next school camp lives up to it.
